Restaurant Veranda moved in 2016 from Berchem to 2060 Antwerp! The setting is sublime and perfectly matches the well-known Veranda vibes—deliciously simple, noisy, and above all, an atmosphere that instantly brings a spontaneous smile.
The building on Lange Lobroekstraat is located near the Antwerp Slaughterhouse and the Sportpaleis. On event days at the Sportpaleis, as well as on Fridays and Saturdays, the restaurant opens at 5:00 PM. The white rustic walls, concrete elements, stone staircase, and wooden floor give the space a rough look. A large window brings in plenty of light. In the center of the restaurant stands the open ‘Ben Martin’ kitchen, dividing the space in two. At the back is the dining area, while the front features a bar with a counter, wine showcase, and a large wooden table. There is also an urban terrace for the summer. In the walk-in wine bar, you can enjoy comfort food, craft beers, and natural wines à la carte.
Reservations are not possible for the bar, but are, of course, available for the restaurant. In a time when finding good staff is no easy feat, Chef Schellemans demonstrates his skills. One might almost think a Michelin star is in the works here, but the front door immediately clears up any doubts. The dinner formula remains two appetizers and five creative dishes for the reasonable price of €69. Lunch is available starting at €37 for two courses.
The professionals serve a surprising natural wine with each dish, but also the black Atoma notebooks, which we remember from the Berchem days, offer great advice. Inside, you’ll find a wide selection of wines and craft beers.
Restaurant Veranda continues to stand strong every year… and its fan club, which includes Dua Lipa, Kanye West, and Madonna, is growing stronger by the day!
