In the small Westkapelle, near Knokke, we discover Livingroom 102.
In this cozy brasserie (since 2006), everyone feels at home and can enjoy delicious dishes, a good glass, and fine tapas in a relaxed manner. The venue also has a lovely separate lounge, a bar, and a terrace with a beautiful view for the warmer days. The restaurant is located in a charming house (house number 102 – hence the reference in the name), where there used to be a road café. Right next to the road café was a customs office where truck drivers sometimes had to wait for days for import/export documents. At the road café, they could have a drink or something to eat, and many drivers would spend the night in their trucks in the parking lot.
Chef Maxime now cooks at Livingroom 102 using the best products, trying to work with regional ingredients as much as possible. He sources his butter and eggs from a nearby farm, and for some cuts of meat, he goes to the slaughterhouse in Sluis. This allows him to create a regional cuisine based on pure and honest flavors. Recognizable Belgian classics play the biggest role on the menu.
The “beefbar” is an absolute must-try! A well-curated selection of delicious “meat” according to market availability.
Livingroom 102 stands for a recognizable and pure cuisine based on quality ingredients. A well-deserved mention in Gault Millau is certainly justified.
