De Mangerie: it’s like an intense travel story where local products perfectly blend with “Asian flavours.”
At De Mangerie in Bruges, it’s always a pleasant experience. This cozy restaurant has been located in the heart of Bruges, on Oude Burg, one of the city’s most beautiful spots, for almost two decades. So, there are still some certainties in life! From the moment you step in, you feel the warmth—not only from the kitchen! The interior combines lots of wood, warm colors, and international touches. The service, under the guidance of hostess Els, is not only incredibly friendly but also highly professional with a personal twist.
Chef Kristof Deprez stirs the pots at De Mangerie and serves his guests a taste of ‘vacation’ in his dishes. He has a love for Asian cuisine, which is evident in dishes like Laab gai (spicy chicken) served with a noodle salad with mango and papaya, or a sweet and sour crab cake among the ‘teasers.’ But Kristof, who is well-versed in many culinary styles, also excels at using local ingredients from our North Sea to create a phenomenal bouillabaisse. The menu format with selectable dishes is very popular here. During lunch, you can choose 2 courses (35€), while dinner offers more options, with a choice of 3 courses (47€) or a menu with a ‘teaser’ followed by 3 courses (57€). Kristof is also part of the Order of the 33 Master Chefs of Belgium and has been consistently recognized by Gault Millau.
Stars come, stars go… but De Mangerie remains!
