With the opening of Comptoir des Galeries a few years ago, the Brussels Royal Gallery has gained another gem. The operators of the brand-new Hotel des Galeries initially enlisted Julien Burlat, the former chef/owner of Dôme* Antwerp, to give the restaurant a prestigious touch. Currently, chef David Noël de Groof is in charge, and with great success. The counter at the narrow entrance guides guests to several stylishly designed spaces. At the back, there is an open kitchen. The interior is very light, with wooden tables and two ceramic-clad bars.
As a fan of Brussels through and through, David Noël fell in love with the authentic and historic setting of the galleries and Hôtel des Galeries. David Noël and his team have a passion for high-quality products and refined flavors. The menu is interesting, not too extensive, and creative. Lunch starts from €25 with a 2-course Découverte menu. From €39, you can create your own 3-course menu from the à la carte options. One standout is the poultry and foie gras aspic, combined with mango, port, and a walnut and truffle vinaigrette – top-notch! Another highlight is the veal sweetbread, sautéed mushrooms, chestnut chutney, and a balanced Meaux mustard sauce. Finish in style with a personal interpretation of Pavlova with figs and raspberries.
The wine list is perfectly aligned – compact, intriguing, creative, and accessible.
Comptoir des Galeries has truly revived the culinary scene in the Royal Gallery.
