On the 5th floor of the Royal Library of Belgium, commonly known in Brussels as the “Albertina,” lies the hidden gem of Brussels’ restaurant scene: Restaurant Albert.

This unique restaurant originally dates back to the 1960s. It has undergone a stunning makeover, maintaining respect for its original style and atmosphere, and offers a breathtaking view of the capital.

No wonder hospitality multitasker Filip Fransen created this extraordinarily original and stylish daytime venue.

Together with his team, Filip carefully curates the menu, always in tune with the rhythm of nature. The menu features beautifully balanced dishes at democratic prices, making it accessible to the wider public. Dishes such as marrowbone with horseradish, avruga, and tarragon, or a dish featuring pumpkin with mandarin, buffalo milk, and smoked chili, catch the eye. And what about parsnip ice cream with quince jelly and a bay leaf shortbread? Simply mouthwatering.

During the day, everyone is welcome for a good drink with snacks and/or sweets. And when the weather’s nice, this rooftop with an exceptionally large terrace becomes the hotspot of the capital.

Meanwhile, locals easily find their way to Albert even on weekends. An equally original brunch with a panoramic view of Brussels is not to be missed.
