Between Deinze and Sint-Martens-Latem lies Bachte-Maria-Leerne. Here, you’ll find one of the most beautiful terraces in the country. Place-to-be? Restaurant Bachtekerke.
This restaurant is located on the banks of the Oude Leie River, giving it a unique advantage: the stunning terrace. The project is by Pieter De Troyer. The chef and owner bought the restaurant D’Oude Leie and transformed it into Bachtekerke. Pieter was the former chef of Jeroen Piqueur (Optima) and opened his new restaurant about two years ago. The interior is contemporary with a classic touch, such as beautifully set tables with white linens.
The à la carte menu is extensive and includes both fixed dishes and changing suggestions. Dishes like the shrimp croquette, foie gras terrine, and vol-au-vent with optional veal sweetbreads demonstrate that Pieter is a master of classics. Dim sum with nobashi shrimp, homemade tortellini with butternut, or calamari with txistorra prove that he is not afraid of exotic influences.
Pieter also uses top products such as hazelnuts from Piemonte, cheese from Van Tricht, or chicken from the Basque Country with the Aradoa Label.
Prices range from €30 to €45 for a main course. There is also a lunch menu priced at €27.
Bachtekerke is bistronomie with class and “a view.”
