Tasty bistronomy classics in Charleroi: Restaurant Chermanne.
We discover Restaurant Chermanne on Avenue de l’Europe, close to the center of Charleroi. Behind an unassuming facade lies a cozy, classy interior with lots of wood and fresh light colors. No tablecloths here, but instead, charming wooden tables and modern white bucket chairs. The perfect setting for a bistronomic treat.
Restaurant Chermanne is the brainchild of Chef Stéphane Chermanne. Stéphane has worked in renowned establishments such as Le Gastronome in Paliseul, Le Sanglier des Ardennes in Durbuy, and Comme chez Soi in Brussels. And that experience is reflected in the dishes he serves. His cuisine is rooted in the finest seasonal products. Local producers are honored, and most of the vegetables on your plate were picked just a few hours earlier from the garden. The foundation of his cooking style is French, complemented by a Mediterranean touch.
On the à la carte menu, you’ll find classics such as pig’s trotter croquettes with veal jus and mustard, or grey shrimp croquettes with curry. When it comes to main courses, meat takes the spotlight: Côte à l’os of aged beef, veal sweetbreads with béarnaise, braised veal cheek with red wine… It’s tough to choose! There’s also an appealing menu where the chef dares to be more creative with some dishes. You can order this menu for lunch in 2 courses for just €22, and for dinner in 3 (€32), 4 (€42), or 5 (€52) courses. Excellent value for money!
Restaurant Chermanne: bistronomy at its best. Michelin awarded Chef Chermanne a BiB Gourmand, and Gault Millau gave him 14.5 points!
